School Council

You can engage in your child’s learning at home and school in many ways. The school council provides advice on school matters and helps to strengthen the important relationship between schools, families and their communities. The council includes family members, school staff and community members.

Please contact our school office for more information on School Council minutes.

Membership

Participation in decision making is very important to your children’s success. The school council is a partnership between school, family and the community. The focus is always on student learning. Parents play the first and most important role in their child’s education and are key partners in building a quality education system. By attending school events, volunteering and fundraising, along with collaborating with the community, school council contributes to reaching a common goal….. improved student learning.

School + Family + Community = Success

Currently the council is made up of a variety of members representing students across multiple grades. Programs are run by volunteers, some of whom are council members. All parents are invited to attend school council meetings, whether or not they choose to run for election.

Fundraising

Fundraising may be used to enhance learning opportunities and co-curricular activities.

The goal is to accommodate all students and provide them with the access to go on trips, events, etc. Ultimately the purpose of fundraising is supporting the school with an improvement plan. Recent improvements accomplished include a new screen for the gym, a new iRover in kindergarten and additional technology in classrooms.
